On November 16, 2023, the School of Arts held a special lecture on improving the teaching ability of teachers, with the theme of "promoting teaching through competitions" and promoting innovative practices in landscape architecture teaching. This lecture is hosted by Dai Hongmei, Secretary of the Party Branch and Vice Dean of the School of Arts.
Yu Bingqin is the Secretary of the Party Branch, Associate Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor of the Department of Landscape Architecture at the School of Design, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research focuses on the health, recreation, and ecological function synergy of high-density urban communities. Received 8 teaching competition awards, including the first prize in the National College Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition, the first prize in the National College Hybrid Teaching Design Innovation Competition, the first prize in the Xipu National College Teaching Innovation Competition, the special prize in the Shanghai Teaching Innovation Competition, and the first prize in the Shanghai Youth Teacher Teaching Competition. Also won the National Education Science Research Excellent Achievement Award, the second prize in the Shanghai Teaching Achievement Award, the Shanghai Teaching Expert and the March 8th Red Flag Bearer 6 honorary titles such as the Teaching and Education Award.
At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Yu Bingqin, Secretary of the Party Branch, Associate Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor of the Department of Landscape Architecture at the School of Design, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was warmly welcomed. Secretary Dai Hongmei expressed appreciation for Professor Bingqin's outstanding achievements and contributions, and hoped that her sharing could further stimulate the enthusiasm of teachers for education, improve the level of education and teaching, and encourage teachers to actively participate in teacher competitions and school teaching activities.
In the lecture, Professor Yu Bingqin emphasized the competition system and process of the Youth Teacher Teaching Competition, National College Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition, and Xipu National College Teaching Innovation Competition, emphasizing the importance of teaching competitions for teachers to demonstrate their teaching level and innovation ability, and promoting educational reform and improving the quality of education. Professor Yu Bingqin emphasized the importance of academic support for excellent curriculum design, as well as paying attention to student difficulties and providing solutions. She also encourages teachers to find narrative logic that suits them, to present teaching content more systematically and persuasively, and to enhance teaching effectiveness and stimulate student interest in learning.
At the end of the meeting, Secretary Dai Hongmei expressed sincere gratitude to Professor Bingqin for his wonderful speech and summarized the content of this training. She emphasized that "a passionate and constantly striving teacher will inevitably bring students a more vivid and profound classroom." This sentence deeply moved every teacher present.
